About
Hi, I’m Sandeep Singh.
I’m a licensed life & health insurance broker, and I built FinancesForYou.ca to put real financial education in front of Canadians before anyone ever asks them to buy something.

My story
I grew up in Punjab, India, and moved to Canada in 2016. Like many newcomers, I quickly realized that building a life here meant learning an entirely new financial system.
There were new accounts, new rules, new tax concepts, new insurance options, and unfamiliar terms everywhere. I wanted to make informed decisions, but the more people I spoke with, the more confused I became — every conversation seemed to focus on a product before I fully understood the problem it was supposed to solve.
After meeting with several financial professionals, I realized something important: if I wanted to truly understand Canada’s financial system, I needed to study it from the inside. That decision eventually led me into the financial services industry.
As I learned, I discovered that financial planning isn’t just about products — it’s about helping people understand their choices so they can make confident decisions. That experience changed the way I wanted to serve people.
I created FinancesForYou.ca because I believe financial education should come before financial decisions. Whether someone is trying to understand life insurance, retirement planning, saving for the future, or simply figuring out where to begin, they deserve clear explanations — not complicated language or pressure to buy something they don’t understand.
My goal is simple. If someone spends thirty minutes with me, I want them to leave feeling more confident than when they arrived. Even if they never become a client, I want them to understand their options, ask better questions, and feel comfortable making financial decisions with confidence. To me, that’s success.
I hope FinancesForYou.ca grows into a trusted Canadian educational platform where people come first to understand, and only then decide what’s right for them.
If one day my child asks me why I built this website, my answer will be simple:
“I wanted to build a place where people could find honest financial knowledge that helps them make better decisions. I didn’t want education to be something people received only after someone was trying to sell them something. I wanted knowledge to be available first, so every Canadian could approach financial conversations with confidence.”
That is the purpose behind FinancesForYou.ca, and it’s the standard I want every article, guide, and conversation on this website to live up to.
Why FinancesForYou.ca exists
Most financial content online falls into one of two categories: generic advice that isn’t specific to Canada, or product-first sales content dressed up as education. Neither actually helps someone figure out what to do with their own money.
FinancesForYou.ca exists to be the third option — real Canadian financial education, written by someone licensed to back it up, published because it’s useful, not because it’s a lead magnet. If you never book a call, that’s fine. The goal is that you leave knowing more than when you arrived.
My approach to financial education
Clarity over complexity
Money isn’t complicated on purpose. If I can’t explain something plainly, I haven’t understood it well enough myself yet.
Education before action
You’ll never be asked to decide something you don’t understand yet. Every article on this site exists to be useful on its own, whether or not we ever talk.
A relationship, not a transaction
I’d rather be the person you check in with for years than someone you talk to once.
Right-sized help
Whether you have $500 saved or $50,000, the questions you’re asking are worth a real answer.
How content on this site is reviewed
Every article, glossary term, and guide on this site is reviewed for accuracy and clarity by Sandeep Singh before it’s published. Recommendations — like a suggestion to book a Financial Health Check-up — are never generated or inserted automatically; they’re placed deliberately, and only where they’re actually relevant to the topic.
If something needs correcting after publication, it gets corrected. Financial rules and numbers change, and pretending this content is permanently perfect wouldn’t be honest either.
Qualifications and licensing
- Licensed Life & Health Insurance Broker
- FP Core Curriculum completed
- Licensed Insurance Broker in Ontario, Canada
- Independent — not tied to a single insurer’s products
How I work with clients
Every relationship starts the same way: with education, not a pitch. Most people read a few articles first. When — and if — you’re ready to talk, it starts with a free Financial Health Check-up: a conversation about where you stand today, with no obligation to move forward with anything afterward.
Need-based analysis
Recommendations start with understanding your goals, circumstances, and priorities — not with a product. A conversation about specific solutions only happens once I actually understand what you need, and even then, it stays within what I’m licensed to offer.
I educate Canadians about a wide range of financial concepts and products. When providing licensed services, recommendations are limited to the products I am authorized to offer.
What I do
- Teach the fundamentals of insurance, budgeting, and retirement planning in plain language
- Advise on life and health insurance products, including segregated funds, under my LLQP license
- Have honest, no-pressure conversations about where you stand today
- Tell you clearly when something is outside what I’m licensed to help with
What I don't do
- Call myself a "Financial Planner" or "Financial Advisor" — I haven’t completed that certification yet
- Pressure anyone into a decision, or follow up repeatedly after a "no"
- Recommend a product before I understand your actual situation
What you can expect
- Plain language, always — jargon explained the moment it shows up
- No pressure to buy anything, ever
- Honest answers, including “this isn’t something I can help with”
- Follow-up only if you ask for it
